Ok,so it needs a fine bit of tuning because it had a nip up but thats easily sorted but good performance from a cheap kit.
I remember a while back people getting excited because an RT255 hit 80mph down a road in Surrey.

Yes it give us all a bit of inspiration. I remember in the early 80's a pretty much standard scooter won a scooter track race against all the 'tuned' scoots, it was fun to watch

80mph out of any rideable Lambretta motor is to be commended, there aren't as many as people think. TS1, RB etc. do not achieve the true speeds people think they do due to the wholly inaccurate speedos being used. Saying that, 80+mph from a SIL iron cylinder certainly isn't commonplace.

But my ts1 rocketed to 92mph straight out of the box.......Lol
If that iron barrel does over 80 with only knife edging the transfers , well done , but i suspect more work has been done to it?

I've had 83 out of my rb22, flat out on a Gud day. Straight out of the box. Obviously with a big carb and exhaust, I've had Ben at afs work some magic on it recently so hopefully it'll go a bit faster. I agree sum people do exaggerate the top speed of they're scoots, I find over 80 mph scarey, stuff happens really quickly and u have to be wary of other motorists not being aware of u, I'd like to get mine to 90 mph just for the thrill! Tho it mite not last too long!! Before it goes bang.

My rb20 did a knats chuff shy of 80mph as verified on satnav. Out of box no casing mods etc, Actually felt pretty safe , which surprised me !!

A lot has to do with the carb on non reed. A mate runs an SIL barrel and runs an open mouth 30 and has gps'd his at 76mph.I ran a 30 on my 185 and that had good topend.A lot of people run filtered carbs or just smaller filtered carbs which will hold it back.

Hi fella , my sean brady tuned sil top end would never hit them sort of speeds (82mph), but would sit 70 all day long , mikuni tm24 filtered, around 15hp, unfiltered around 15.3hp lol.
My mate had sil top end unfiltered 30 dellorto, same jl3 ( as myself) and mine would p155 over it?
May sound like i'm dissing the iron fraternity , far from it think it's commendable and more people should have one

Joking aside though. An iron barrel, 30 mil carb and a clubman can wouldn't cost you a mint, or need a rebuild every year. And you could have it mildly ported, all inside five hundred quid. Reasonable speed. Good reliability.
The cost of all the other fancy bits and pieces would buy you a lot of motorbike to go fast on. And you wouldn't be off the road for a week while the annual rebuild takes place.
