As above really  . Trying to set carb up but it`s bogging down slightly when pulling away, seems ok mid throttle onwards.
So what needle do i change?
Also, can someone explain what is meant by "plug chops".
185 Ally barrel, 30mil dellorto, AF 42mil clubman.
Yours in carb duncery.

What's in it now, jetwise?

spend some time adjusting the mixture screw in or out between 1/4 and 3 turns out to find the best setting that pulls away cleanest if you find it needs 1/4 or 3 then the pilot jet may need changing a size
then try the needle on a clip lower/higher and find best setting or may need another needle
if it doesnt clean up then may need a bigger slide cutaway
the problem with this type of set up is that what normally responds best may be too lean and cause engine damage,do you have a local reputable 2 stroke dyno you could set up on

Muttley,
Main 122
Two jets marked 70 and 55 don`t know which ones the starter or pilot
Slide 50
X7 needle 2nd clip
AV266

Cheers for tickover screw tip, will try that. will be getting it dyno`d shortly but want to do a few miles first as it`s been built from bare casings, new crank, barrel, piston etc.
Plug chops ??? Anyone???

55 will be the pilot and 70 the choke.
55 seems a tad high to me, but stand to be corrected. I've got a 45 or a 48 in my 185. 122 seems very high too. I'd try a 48 pilot and see how that goes. How does it feel at high revs? Does it bog?

Cheers Muttley, food for thought there. literally just built engine and as it`s not run in yet i`ve been pretty conservative with the throttle so not done too much at high revs, but seems ok when i did open her up.
I suppose the answer`s getting it dyno`d.
Just looked up other peoples settings and it does seem pilot and main jet are a little on the big side.
Cheers for advice.

Aren't plug chops where you kill the engine at various speeds/ throttle ranges and then whip out the plug to see what colour it is/ whether it's running rich or lean.

Eg. You would ride around the block at a fairly constant mid throttle, kill the engine whilst still running, roll to a stop, pull out you plug and have a look?
