A kind bristol person on hear helped sort my new clutch amongst other things. Now everything is back i have been sorting out the cables. I thought all was well as i went too far and couldnt kick it so knew the clutch was too tight. Now all i can do is get it a few yards by riding the clutch (pulling it in and out, but not right out), also having trouble finding neutral.
I assume its down to how much adjustment i am making on the clutch but what amount do i let the cable out or tighten??
Or is it something else?
Clutch???

spot on, i just realised they are, nice one
though i feel a complete
but i cant work out why they are, i wouldnt have altered the cables, i took everything off before i took the engine out, but left the cables in the trunions, looked at someone elses scooter just now and the cable trunion holder (for want of the proper name) is back where his is forward and visa versa, but the cables are coming out of the block as they did before when it was working correctly. I cant see that they are swapped over so what else could i have done wrong?

just to recap..............
To check the cables are in correctly, when you move the gear bselector on the handlebars from "O" to "1", the selecter on the engine should pivot clockwise (i.e. the arm nearest the rear wheel should move towards the front of the scooter.
If this is correct, try reseting the cables as follows:-
1) loosen both gear cables at the engine end by undooing the 3.5 (or whatever) grubscrews
2) Put the engine manually in 1st gear by pushing the selector swivel mechanism forwards at the "rear wheel" side of the swivel
3) Pull the inner cable nearest the rear wheel backwards as far as possible with mole grips/ pliers. This will move the handlebar selecter into the "1" position
4) Holding it in position, tighten the grubscrew
5) pull the other inner cable backwards with mole grips/ pliers and then tighten that grubscrew
This should then give you the correct positioning for the gear cables
Put the engine back into neutral with the gear change on the handlebars and away you go.
You may need to fine tune the cables with the block adjusters a tad.
One thing to watch out for is that the OUTERS may have slipped out of their slots at the top of the horncasting/ headset- if this has happened then they need to be reinserted BEFORE adjusting.
Hope this helps
