Super Monza auction for child cancer research

Within the German Scooter Forum the idea was born to raise money and buy a Super Monza Kit together. The kit will be the version that is not blueprinted by Charlie Edmonds. The kit will be throughly tested and auctioned after testing. All money will go into the child cancer research collect by Oldtimer Markt magazine.

We never thought it will happen this way, but a complete engine, ready to drop in your frame, will go into auction after all testing!

What will be done:
The Super Monza will be analyzed, time area with TSR software, angles, port map, vinyl moulds made from the transfers, etc.
The Super Monza will be put without any modifications on an engine with matched transfers. Squish clearance, port timings etc as per instructions (altered for 60 mil stroke)
It will be put on a dyno with the SM exhaust (italian version) and the suggested 30mm VHSH CS carb fitted with powerjet kit, jetting and everything else as per instruction. The best dyno run will be stored as base and compared to later curves.
Various other carbs, cylinder heads and exhausts will be tested on the stock cylinder. This tests are carried out to see what improvements – if any - can be done to a stock cylinder kit without touching ports. A different reed manifold will be produced and the kit will be tested with other reedblocks than the standard Yamaha TZR as well. All these tests aim at the buyer who doesn´t want to run a modified SM Kit, what other parts work, what parts don´t work.

After this the kit will be modified to an even higher performance road engine, the intention is to keep a wide power band and road usability. It will NOT be „tuned“ for a certain bhp number just to make an impact on paper.
All steps will be documented, photographed and/or filmed, all data will be available for everybody. Scooter Magazines will be contacted if they are interested in a full write up (Hi Sticky ;) )
All work and parts were given for free or at very reduced rates (SM kit, Liedolsheim clutch) by members of the GSF for charity.

If you want to take part, be it money or part donations, write-ups in magazines, etc. please write a pm to me
. All money donations go to an account owned by gsf member „madmaex08“ who happens to be working at a bank. Daily account updates are in the GSF. Apart from below part donations we collected around 1200€ up to now (complete list can be found in the GSF/Lambretta/SM for charity thread) A big thank goes out to all who already donated money and/or parts!!

this is an outstanding project. best of everything kinda - we get a full thorough analysis of the super monza by an independent 3rd party, a lucky winner gets a killer engine, and all the proceeds go to a good cause. hats off to everyone participating!

at the moment the tickets are made ready for printing. As soon as we have them all details will be posted here.

Tickets are sold individually and also in bulk to scooter shops and rally organisers, clubs...

We are in discussion where the raffle will take place, favors are for "Ferien im Sauerland" (Holidays in Sauerland) Rally near Cologne early may. I will bring the engine from vienna to germany and if the winner is not at the rally it will be professionally shipped by Scooter Center Cologne to the winner.

Please note that the first batch of SuperMonza kits is entirely sold to UK - this is the series that was not up to CE standards. The second batch should be leaving Gilardoni next week. These kits are improved versions that are manufactured as intended. The kit on the raffle engine is from this second series
