hi, my mates varitronic regulator has packed up , giving 20 +volts at the headlight and blowing bulbs, can he use a wassell /podtronics type regulator? or will the ducati type work?

I use variatronics on both of my scooters and both of the regulators have failed , i use a cheap indian ducati type on one and a yamaha banshee regulator on the other, both work well.

Plenty of reg/recs designed to work with that stator http://www.startright.co.uk/index.php?m ... s_id=11737
If you want them to last, run with the lights on all the time, most machines they are designed for are loaded with a resistor in the lights off position.
