Anyone had any dealings with these 150 / 200 conversion kits & are they a good option?
What sort of quality are they? Will they need any fettling? Will the 150 gearbox be ok?
Thanks in advance
Mark

They will need ports cleaning up, and the piston supplied with these kits is not very good, once the ports are sorted and a decent piston like an asso is fitted They can be ok.

works out a lot better if you can get hold of just a steel lined 186 cylinder- then choose a decent piston and bore to suit.
I've done a few using Scooter Restos £30 Mahle pistons at a 3 thou clearance with absolutely no problems.
Have a play around with the ports yourself- job sorted. Good power increase for very few pennies plus the fun of doing it yourself.

No they are not very good, the quality varies alot and you never know what you'll get.
These kits have problems with rough ports, piston to bore clearance, crap pistons and wrongly machined heads.
If you really must have one of these ally kits off ebay then pay abit more and buy one of the Buzzsolomoto kits ,they cost £175 not £125 but most of the problems are sorted for you.
BUT for that kind of money I'd send a 150 barrel and head to someone like Harry Barlow at Pro Porting and get him to do a 175 conversion with a quality piston and stage 4 tune.
Cost is the same ,performance is better and it will be alot less heartache

I've got a Mugello 186 kit for sale if you want Mugello performance but want to save a few quid.

Probably go down the rebore & new piston/175cc route - simple, cheap & effective.
Thanks again

What pistons are supplied with the iron 200 kits anyway?
