Greetings, I bought a set of forks, understand them to be GP ones

now I been looking about and all the GP buffers I see are listed as push in?? but my forks have holes to bolt them in place??

so can anyone advise the dimension (length) of the headstock on a set of GP forks?

thing is that I sorted a set of bearing cups, so I can run taper races, and just working backwards with dimensions to get the size of my headstock tube to go on the jig etc.

Im going to be making my own links etc, so got room for adjusting and fiddling with rideheights, but cant be worrying about a headset that might sit 2 foot above the legshields LOL

happy to cut and slug the headstock tube on the forks, but I have no idea of the proper size it should be.

FORK STEM LENGTHS - all measurements are approx and are taken with the lower bearing track removed
Italian Series 3+ GP - has speedo/front brake cable support as seperate piece - also has cut out for headset clamp at the side of the thread (in line with front wheel)
Chrome ring
From bearing track seat to centre line of steering stop = 361mm
From bearing track seat to bottom of thread = 413mm
From bearing track seat to top of fork stem = 467mm
Non chrome ring
From bearing track seat to centre line of steering stop = 355mm
From bearing track seat to bottom of thread = 405mm
From bearing track seat to top of fork stem = 458mm
TV 200 - Chrome ring
From bearing track seat to centre line of steering stop = 361mm
From bearing track seat to bottom of thread = 413mm

Italian Series2 - has welded on "loop" for speedo cable/front brake support - also has the cut out for the headset clamp bolt at the rear of the thread (at 180 degree to front wheel)

LI 150 S2

JET 200 -Large damper type - have single damper stud of 9mm diameter welded to single plate at top of fork leg. Also has cut out for headset clamp at the side of the thread (in line with front wheel)

Is the rectangle of metal thats welded to the side of the stem the steering stop? I had assumed it was. Will just do something external on the bottom of my stem.

yes it is ...

gp forks never had bolt in ...you ether have li type or shortend forks ..or have had the holes drilled ..a pic will help

Theres a loop of metal on one leg. And the top of the stem has a slot down it. Will go measure them in a bit. Glad i asked now. Will shorten them appropriately

sounds like series 1 or 2 if the loop is welded on

Much thanks guys. My minds put at rest now. Deffo gp. Measurements match and the slot in the thread is at the front in line with the steering stop.
someone has drilled them for bolt in buffers.
Waiting for the whole headset and clamp to arrive from ebay.
Im having to sort of build backwards making the frame and mounts fit the panels lol.
