are the banshee reed blocks the same as the RD ones? (as used on TS1 kits)

cheers
mick

ps v force petals can fail after a relatively short life- would these suffer the same fate if the petals foul the inlet tract?

cheers
mick

The engine in the Banshee is the RD350 engine so the reed block is the same, original RD reed blocks have a thicker flat surface where the inlet sits, its best to have that surface machined down for some clearance on the frame and so a packer can be used under the reed block. The BGM reed block is already done like this and saves the hassle. The VForce reed blocks are great but they don't make the thick reeds for them any more, they've replaced them with thinner ones as they found they work better on the smaller size barrels there intended for. A yam reed block with Boysen reeds will give a good increase and last alot longer.

thanks chris - ive got the bgm reed block with a couple of mm milled off the flange face (if i remember 6mm down to 4mm) with standard metal rd reeds for longevity.

from your info it looks like i need to source boyssen reeds - are the ones i need RD two stage reed petals?
i like the idea of the above modification but worry if i take the stops off the one petal reeds will foul the inlet and reduce their life

cheers

I've always used a packer under the reed block Mick, bringing the reeds away from the boost port, the reed stops (long) obscure the boost . The yam reed block with the dual stage reeds, packer under the block and short reed stops with a MB inlet which has the fingers going into the reed block acting as the reed stuffer works really well. As far as durability I just took the ones out my brothers engine that were changed 4000 miles ago, and they were still in good condition.
