RB200 kit, yay or nay....

Morning chaps,
The quest for more power is still on.....

I've been offerd a RB200 kit as a straight swap for my Imola.

I have read bad reports regarding the RB, but me being me I still feel that I want to try it out.

Is there anything to look for on these kits? My casings are ported to the Imola, I'll be using a 30mm PHBH, 15/46 sprockets-4 plate clutch, MBD internals, Iwis chain, Ron Moss 48mm exhaust.

I feel this is the easier option than trying to loose weight :P

Personally I would go with the RB200, remember it won`t be a straight swap over with your Imola, you will need a new crank and exhaust as they will be different for the Imola kit. as with all kits especially the RB kits they do need setting up correctly to avoid problems.

I was looking at an RB kit yesterday, and it had the TS1 exhaust fitting, I was hoping just to change the crank so to speak.

You need to change the crank ,exhaust etc ,my imola was sorted by chris sturgess ,25 to 27bhp is there to be had , change of exhaust and porting work and not alot will catch you !

That sounds good,
What sort of porting, exhaust and speed are you getting?

I'm looking at this option for the crank for the RB (if I was to have it)

ive had two af cranks in my rb20, the first was an af crank supplied from afwith the kit. This twisted after four month and was then welded by jerome, it lasted another four months until the big end decided to take a trip up the transfer ports and wrecked the kit. Af replaced the lot but as the crank had been welded would only supply a rebuilt sil crank with there rod. This lasted about 8 months before the bearing just melted !! Luckily the kit was untouched.
I now have a sill crank with a yam 115mm rod this means you need to take a mil of the barrel base , but hopefully that will sort it now.
In both cranks before it was the bearing that failed so i wouldnt touch another af one
ive got an alpha crank with yam rod and bearing in my rb240 and not had a problem (with the crank) in two years !
When i was young my Mom said "if you haven't got anything nice to say, say nothing at all " ..................... and people wonder why I'm quiet around them !

There is a lot of mixed views about this kit then....
I may as well go for the Alpha crank, then it should be a good all round performer I guess.

contact chris sturgess through this forum (cspe) and he will sort you out , as for performance , blows ts1s into the weeds , and due to the smaller bore revs upreally quick , by the time the big boys had relised what was happening it was to late !! dyno graphs from mine are on here although that was using a jl curly which we later found knocked 3bhp off , it still made 25 bp though !!

RB20, great bit of kit i must have about 5k plus miles and i do tend to smash the arse out of it. No issues with the kit itself although i have swapped the AF piston with a jap dt175 one. Still got the origonal one though.

Mate of mine must have 12k plus and again noi issues.
