converting a chrome ring frame

hi,does anyone know if there is an avalible frame top bearing race large enough in dia to do away with the chrome ring as i have a spanish li chrome ring frame.a none chrome ring head set, jet 200 forks at the mo there is not enough thread left for the spacer washer & the top locking nut ,or just bite the bullet and buy longer forks any help appreciated

problem here is you wont have the lock stop ...what you need is either part of a ring left on for this or fabricate something in its place but a non ring top cup should fit the frame top regardless

It's fairly straightforward to knock out a chrome-ring with it's bearing and replace it with a bearing for a non-ring frame.
This however, won't help with the fork length problem you seem to have.
Are you sure the forks are Jet? Could they be GP?

ive got a jet chrome ring frame and jet non chrome ring legshields/headset

rus from lincs lambrettas set it all up in a jig hes got and its mm perfect

he had to move the steering stop though - no prob just a weld

one answer to your problem MIGHT be to reduce the thickness of you locking rings or check the locking rings are the thinnest available as sometimes they differ
@ just re read your post and id say you deffo need the longer forks if you continue to use the set up how it is have you checked your lower stearing bearing is in the correct way round ? @
