I've picked up a cev rev-counter.
Only trouble its missing the wires that reads the pulse.
What wire attaches to the red & grey, is it specific wire?
Can it be made or does it need buying in.
CEV rev counter
is it the black round type if so it works of the lighting circuit and pics up the pulse from the ign that way i had one on my dragster and it was really good the one on my lammy wasnt so good until i fitted a battery , i recone they work much better on a DC system the other wire is an earth

It is a little round one.
I've had the battery charger out & the gauge back light works. BONUS.
I just need to extend the red & Grey wires that stick out the back & end with bullet connectors.
Is it just the case of using the same gauge wire & rapping both around to carry the pulse?
It came with no instructions & the guy whom had it didn't know if it worked!

mine had to be spliced in the lighting circuit run a lead upto the headlight and on to earth then rev to se if it works make sure its the permenat live though not the second or 3rd position on the ign switch my light are wired to be on all the time so it didnt matter to me

Edit!
Sorted it!!!!! Its got sod all to do with the HT lead.
Its ticking over at about 1250rpm by gauge

the guage picks up the minute extra pulses from the ign which are naturally generated in the lighting circuit thats why the red has to connect into the lighting circuit and the black/grey is the earth some vespas used this as standard

I worked it out in the end.

I bought it from an old bike shop today, went down to get a chain-saw chain sharpened.
The old chap told me it was ordered for a guy who never returned to collect it.
Its got a ink stamp on the back "7-85" I don't know if this is the month & year of Manufacture.
Body width is 60mm
face width is 65mm
Total length 61mm
length minus the face & lip 53mm
Sorry about the size of the pics.
