After stripping a friends motor we've discoverd it's a 240cc Kawasaki conversion. The piston is 71mm (is that an oversize?) and the rings were worn so they've been binned.

It's an original piston and he needs a set of new rings...can you still get them?

Cheers Stu

71mm is standard size for the H2

Be easier to buy a Wiseco H2 piston and rings, wiseco ref no 423M07100OEM

rings are ref 2795CD which is commonly used on wiseco 71mm 2 stroke pistons

OEM Kawaski H2 stuff is rocking horse manure unless you can find rings from another piston to suit

Ok good news, thanks for that. Can you recommend a supplier or anywhere that can do a discounted rate?

if you do just want to go with just changing the rings and it is an oe kawasaki piston it's worth trying here : https://www.z-power.co.uk/merchantmanager/
the kawasaki pistons need repegging, but the wiseco items don't.
I've been looking for a 71mm 423M07100 wiseco piston for my big block build with no luck, although i didn't know david's brands hatch suggestion.
ended up getting a first oversize 423M07150, which is not ideal, but fine for my needs.
if you mate's does need a rebore and you get hold of a new 423M07100 kit, I'd swap it for mine, all BNIB.
any more info on the spec and how it rode would be useful as I am still at the collecting bits together stage of my build.
