air flow problem
Hi useing a dell30mm carb on me scoot runs great with air filter off but wont start with filter off.Put filter on starts but wont run cough and splutters,useing rubber hose with a gauze type air filter.Any info cheers.

Sounds like the filter is making it too rich. Consider trying a smaller pilot. Also, you might be getting too much spitback ie. it's hitting the bend in the rubber and being sucked back in again making it too rich and boggy.
I've no experience of the gauze type filters although they always give me the impression of being pretty restrictive in terms of how much air they let through, when you compare it to a foam type filter.
If you post your engine spec and jetting, someone may be able to point you in the right direction.

Cheeers dropped pilot jet left filter off runs great.
