Has anyone been running one of those 200cc kits that fit onto a 150 casing for a while/ I'm just about to get mine built now & would be interested if the good folk off here have known of any of these that have been doing ok.

I've got a 58mm black Mec Eur Lambretta crank & I'll be running a delly 28 mm carb.

This Series 2 is nearly complete & its only cost me 1200 quid for the lot & I've had to buy everything apart from the wheel rims. I've put months of slog into it on a real tight budget I've had & I'd be gutted if the engine didn't perform fairly well & reliably. I've had the barrel tuned too.

not used an actual kit as there have been some horror stories re the piston to bore clearances being way too tight/ loose/ oval/ tapered etc

What I have done is had a genuine 62mm barrel bored to the correct tolerances for a 200cc piston (66mm) using a cheapo Mahle piston from Scooter Restorations (£30), and these have worked extremely well- no rattles and no nip ups.

As long as your kit has been matched correctly to its piston (most haven't) and the ports have been cleaned up, then it should prove OK as long as its run in correctly

Little Mike from Stroud has one on his scoot and has done some miles with no problems. 2 French rallies that I know of and don't know how many miles at home.
