good question

i believe the franspeed pipes are a newer (and slightly better?) version of the old jl range.
jl3 touring - franspeed road
jl4 race - franspeed race

the old jl4 was basically the old taffspeed race pipe used on the track

also i believe andy francis has gone into partnership with jim lomas - the guy who makes the pipes - thats why they have got the "fran"speed name

if other dealers/sellers are calling them something else i wonder what andy has got to say about it?

The franspeed race ( for ts1) has the internal stinger removed which has made it louder although also made the engine run cooler and has the same cones /shape as the RB version. It was found to suit the ts as well as the rb , and produces more power than the old jl4 type ( which as we all know has poor ground clearance and a nasty habit of cracking!)
I recently changed pipes from a franspeed 3 ( which is bascially a jl3 but better mounting system and fitment, which from what i gather is soley exclusive to Andy Francis), and moved onto the race version , what a pleasant surprise in that the tourque is still there but allows it to rev on whereas the old one hit a brick walll as it were!!!
Managed to get 1st back to Annan this year on the c2c, at pretty much full throttle , so gets a big thumbs up from me!
