More clutch woes!

Evening all, after having loads of trouble setting up the clutch on my Imola powered engine and after reading glowing reports about the AF 6 plate clutch i decided to shell out on one. Anyway I have since received and fitted it but i have run into a problem with it, i didn't want to take the unit apart to soak the plates so i soaked the whole unit before fitting. It went together in minutes and all seemed ok but as soon as i tried to put it in gear it stalls. I have taken the side casing off and compressed the clutch with my compressor and the plates and steels won't separate on their own and will only separate if i prise them apart with a screwdriver. I really do need help with this as i'm on the verge of giving up and selling my scoot i'm that peed off! I don't want to seem like a grumpy git but please no ' never heard of that before ' comments. Cheers for any advice or tips Pete.

having only had one of these in my hand and not fitted one ..... i would say take the cassete apart as i think the plate are simply stuck to the steels

Hi pete ,i have a mate who has an af clutch and has exactly the same happen to him , he just gives it a few more revs on pull away ,the spring rate is quite strong imo and it aint nothing to do with stripping the clutch

It stalls as I try to put it into gear, also if I hold the clutch in and push the kickstart down the kickstart does not disengage. It's 100% to do with the plates and steels not separating but why? This whole thing is driving me nuts!!

send it back as not fit for purpose and buy rocho68's clutch at half the price and its a lighter feel as well

rochos 5 or 6 plate are both gaining fans at far less money than an AF too.
I have the 5 plate and despite 2 up with 19/46 gp200 gears and steep hills found no problems to Shipston & back recently.

Take the clutch apart and soak the plates, then you will be sorted. I will be doing the same to my clutch tomorrow. A bugger, but its gotta be done. Good luck.
