polishing the ports on an rb

ok my tools are 10+ years old what are the best tools for the right money to use
also what bit do you use now, do you have any links.
also is it worst just polishing them up nice taking all the sht out the rough casing ect
or to polish them like mirrors, i used to like to have my T5s like mirror glass.
will it make much difference to the rb kit

port your crankcase out to the max and match with the barrel...and even open the trans on the barrel a bit more before hand ...but to highly polish will be not only a waste of time and effort but will be slightly detrimental to flow although it looks really nice cosmetically

do I detect a little 'surface tension' here !!!
Sean is right... polishing tends to have the effect of 'grabbing hold' of the liquid,gas or whatever you want to call it... its better to have a slightly rough finish to ports imo to allow flow and to prevent surface tension.

i have to agree with Sean /tony here.....if i could use another example ,aerospace tech has found that a smooth wing and fuselage creates more drag than one that has ribs and even the domed rivet heads were found to reduce drag ,this was found surprisingly by studying sharks ...they cut through water very well.....they may look smooth but are actually incredibly rough ...the same laws of physics applies to your ports

im sure i read someware that it was , rough in / smooth out,
or am i thinking of something else

its the same with those fancy swimming siuts ,, the rough texture helps the water flow faster over it
