whats the advantage on running a low advance, say 15deg as opposed to 19 deg? just started using a Chiselspeed Mtech unit and there are lots of different settings on it ,15 infact ! Ranging from 21deg down to 11.1deg when using 25deg static .
whats the lowest a lambretta would run safely on ?

As I understand it ( but I probably have got it wrong) A lambretta is happy to tick over and potter around town with a timing of 21 degrees but as revs rise the timing need to get closer to top dead center, with some TS1's running 15 degrees.
It gets confusing when talking about advance/retard because as ignition is advanced the degrees are getting less but getting closer to top dead center. I much prefer to quote figures for example at 1500 rpm I'd like timing of 21degrees changing to 8500rpm timing of 16degrees
And for a spanner in the works all this changes from engine to engine just the same as jetting!
A few hours searching the net will give you a rough idea of what timings suits a perticular rev range.

got my rapido running at 16 degrees, static timing, after talking to AFR its supposed to be 19 but runs fine at 16 all through the range, erring on the side of caution I'd rather it was at this so that it runs a bit cooler.
