I think it is one of the most comprehensive "how to" books I have ever read and it will get a very serious mention in my next article in Used and Classic Bike Enthusiast (Oz mag) The latest issue has already gone to the printers, so the next issue with "Sticky" will be out around November.RICSPEED wrote:hes speed demon on here ...do you want to tell himPunch wrote:I bought the "Sticky" manual and it is superb. A few gaps that will no doubt be fixed in issue 3 after feedback from newbies (to scooters/Lambrettas) like me.
I will read it front to back again, probably the fifth time! but next time will make notes for feedback.
I know my Ducati inside out but Lambrettas are strange to me. The more I read, the less I know!
Just a few things first up that I need to establish.
Loctite - so many options, so which strength for the old alloy cases and studs?
Exhausts - great info, but so many options and opinions in forums etc. - I am unsure as to which way to go. At the outset I will get it running as a stock scooter. A knowledgeable friend has told me how to resurrect/decarbon a muffler, but the Clubman style seems to be a good option for standard/mildly tuned engines for day to day use.
Chain - in my normal (sport/super bike) world my chain would be considered stuffed, but the manual implies that stretched is OK.
But to what degree/length/sag.
Plus more no doubt as the rebuild progresses.
