Evening all, I have been having loads of problems setting up my clutch on my Imola engine. I have tried alsorts of set ups but everyone slips. My question is can / could a faulty drive sprocket spring be the cause of my problems? I'm starting to lose the will to continue with my engine. Any comments advice very welcome. Thanks for your time Pete.

I have tried fitting a 5 plate clutch using quality parts and i have a 4 plate in at the moment with MB uprated springs. It all seems fine and when compressed with the clutch compresser theres plenty of separation between the plates and no clearance issues with the side casing. It will kick over with full compression one time but leave it a while and it will slip when kicking it over again. When it's running some times you can select the gears ok and other times you have to rock the scoot to get it to engage first gear. I'm wondering if its to do with the position of the cluth arm making the springs go coil bound or could it be to do with the front sprocket spring. I used the original one that was already in the engine when i got the scooter, could this be the problem? It's driving me nuts having to strip the engine time and time again.dapper wrote:A bit more detail of the issues you've had and what you've tried would help.

I have seen a couple of motors that have jumped the cush drive on the front sprocket but they were tuned TS1's so I wouldn't think that is your problem.Your issue sounds like Al has already noted.

I've got a new one and i'll fit it a.s.a.p, i've also moved the clutch arm foward a couple of splines and it seems a lot better. Thanks for your help so far.corrado wrote:They're cheap and easy to change so maybe worth trying that first.
what was the outcome of this mate, was it the pressure plate or the spring?
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order.

Glad you got it sorted, had similar problem myself ,it to was the pressure plate, originally had a SIL GP plate, changed it to an old LI plate I had (just took the brass GP plunger off the side casing) ,problem gone.Cheers Dave.
