Help what do you think ,my barrel has come back and instead of a ceramic lining they have fit a steel linner and i dont no if it will cope with heat .

Where did you send it, what did you ask for, and why did you have it done?

These lot http://www.pjme.co.uk/ i asked for a ceramic lining and they fit a steel liner ,it was all done over the phone ,brumey and cumbria ,cant understand each other ,just spoke to af ,they think with new rings should be fine.Because it seized up with about 250 miles on it ,as ive said a few times it was still runing fine with 650 miles on it,as it was marked very low down no were near the rings .My own thnking is that it was a bit short on clearance .

steel liner seems a long way from ceramic,i hope it works out for you.
could you possibly list engine spec, jetting, air filter etc?
and did it seize on wide open throttle or when you rolled it off?

Pjme use cro mo liners in the barrels they do and if you check the site they say that the liners will work with all types of rings used.
They state they can handle kart revs up to 20.000 revs so I think you will be ok.
I know rb's are supposed to run hot and have had problems with this but im sure pjme know what they are doing and it looks well done.
Give them a ring and tell them your concerns.
A couple of the lads on here have had resleeves done on ts1's and rapido 250's and as far as I know (reading threads on here and lcgb)
They seem to be happy with what pjme did with theres.
Hopefully one of those lads will come along and put your mind to rest!!

If you sent your scooter to be painted blue and it came back pink ,you would have a right to be pissed off as am I ,i'm not knocking there work ,only that fact that it has been let down by not being able to take a phone call and do as asked ,you expect this with a 50 million pound helicopter for the mod but a simple scooter barrel reline shouldn't be this hard ,and yes i have spoke to them several times today with no joy :flaming:

dont get alarmed!the nicosil coating has been used for years in ally block four stroke motors to a great advantage,now in a two stroke form this is also a brilliant hard coat,but if the clearance is wrong or the grit (s**t) in the fuel attacks the coat or wrong carb or ignition setting then it will take no prisoners and there is no second chance,so imho the steel liner is a better bet and will take some stick,can be honed and bored oversize,most of the big engines run steel liners.
looks a good job,are you not happy with the quality of the work?what did they charge you?

Hi joe ,no the engineer who carried out the work has done a good job and the finish is a lot better than the original barrel,its the fact that its not what i wanted and i feel ive gone backwards ,as if this is a better linner, then why dont the come with them from new ,the price was £133 including vat and posting it back to me,

teamv,if this is any consolation to you,most racers will be on linered cylinders,fit it and forget it,if it nips,strip it hone it and away you go again,

Not sure how many racers are using liners, few Rapido's but thats a bit different would expect most to be nicasil coated.....except Gp5 TS1 jobbies maybe.

Given the choice I'm a Nic/Ceramic man. Saying that get it set up well use good oil and it should be fine.
