Excessively hot pipe or me being paranoid?

Just fitted a new AF stator to my TS1 as old one was fecked. Replaced like for like in exactly same position as old one which had been strobed to suit.
Just had a quick blast up the road and noted that the end can seemed v hot when I came back.
What could be the cause?
Are all stators the same or will I need to re-strobe the timing?
Or am I being paranoid as its a newly rebuilt motor?
