Stator Reading values - what do they mean?

Probably been asked before but need to understand more.

When measured earlier got the following readings(SIL Electronic stator)

1) White to earth - less than 0.1 ohm - ok.

2) White to Red - 90 ohms - little less than Sticky's recommended reading of 95-120 ohms.

3)White to Green - 300ohms - alot less than recommended reading of 450-540 ohms.

I'm concearned more so with number 3's reading as its v.low.

I have noticed the engine tends to splutter alot on low throttle and can't seem to get a constant plug colour even to point where the plug appears oily. Does this mean that i'm getting a poor output from the stator to fire the plug cleanly? I replaced the CDI unit for a Ducati one only recently and the plug and lead is also new.

All comments welcome.

It's very late, i've been.........'out for the evening'............ :bouncyeng:

If you are not experienced with a multimeter, don't get too hung up on readings..............yet!
The other symptoms you describe, all suggest carburation problems.......to me.

Readings 2 and 3 are both lower than I would like but It's a little odd that both the pickup AND the LT coil are low :? it would be good to check the accuracy of your meter on a known good stator.

try it between the red and backplate and green and backplate to see if you have the same readings, i had the same with a swiss stator and the rivets needed some attention at the backplate,
