Help Required please been running standard 166 kit for about 3yrs in a mates bike then in mine 4about 1 year done about 4k so i think it was running ok
the top of piston crown broke away about 1'' long on inlet side and scored the barrel it looks like it went straight out of exhaust port no marks on head and no bits at all in bottom end.
so new piston and rebore? if so anyone know size etc or do i just buy a whole new top end?
your thoughts please.

sussed it
finally bit the bullet bought a new 166 kit, the problem was (is) the autolube decided to let go
and knackered it all
i am thinking do away with autolube and run premix question is that the oil pump cog that sits between clutch and bearing is in bits and drive cog smooth no teeth do i have to use the same as before as in the cog behind clutch@£20 or can i just use a washer to keep clutch away from bearring.

first off, you need to strip your casings, and find out where them bits of metal have gone, otherwise the are gonna make a mess off your gearbox, bearings, at the very least the drive side oil seal will go. you could have just got a first oversize piston and got it re-bored, but as you"ve bought a new kit..... as for the autolube, block it off and mix in the tank, that way the oil is guaranteed to get where it should go. i"ll have a look to see if ive got a spare cog , if i have , you can have it.

Good shout goldeneye never gave that a thought
stripped it all last night looked like confetie everywhere will deffinately be changing all seals and main drive bearing and clean up everything looks like crankshaft cooked as well so looks like a new one it was all stock so going to open up case's to match and probably race crank i was determind not to tune to much but whilst its in bits seems a shame not to
looks like the credit card is going to get a beating
