No kickstart - clutch engaged

Just bought a very low mileage px200 engine taken out of a stolen/recovered scooter that had been stored for a couple of years. Kickstart does not engage, just feels as if the clutch is pulled in even though cable is obviously disconnected.

Any ideas what the problem is here?

Cheers
Rob

Cheers for the answers so far. Piston/flywheel doesn't move & kickstart mechanism all seems to be working fine. I think it's got to be something internal and need to look. Woodruff key/ clutch seize looks most likely at the moment I think.

I've had this happen to me - it turned out to be the circlip on the clutch basket had sprung out.......it's worth checking that first as it's a relatively quick fix.
