Folks first post after recommendations that you guys might have seen it all before!
Had Li S3 for yrs with no real issues till it got wrote off late last yr by a 4 wheel dafty.

Used my insurance to buy a GP (Indian 77) built from scratch in Scunny.
since delivery i've had more than my fair share of hassle.
125 with 175 upgrade/tuned.

After partial run in at 40mph etc the scoot started dieing in 4th gear, initial symptoms suggested fuel starvation.
Carb changed to remote with own filter 25mm and ff tap fitted etc, seemed to have done the trick.
Then died again after maybe 50 miles 4th gear at 45/50mph......... No spark just coasted to stop and wouldnt bump start, no spark at plug etc to earth/engine block/frame, AA confirmed same on arrival.
Changed stator to BGM 120W scoot started 1st kick, but no lights or horn.
Recrimped cables from stator to regulator and cdi box, lights and horn OK.
Another 10/15 miles and scooter again no lights and horn, took head set off and noted one loose term from ignition to headlight/JB (black) re terminated and seemed ok with lights and horn.
Another 10 miles and scooter died again in 4th gear at similar speeds, wont bump start and wont kick, no spark from Spark plug to engine mounting/frame.
Took head set off to check again- loose connection,
Latest observation on 2nd ignition position my park light and back light tries to illuminate on kickstart, on 3rd position less illumination on park and rear lights, tried bumping again tonight, no joy, :wtf: :baddevil:
Last stator indian but looked ok and test seemed fine, i assumed intermittent fault on heat build up.
New stator brand new BGM and fitted perfect with no issues.
Regulator looks new but have purchsed a ducati replacement for next step.
CDI unit looks OK and have swopped with a new from mates scooter and works fine when tests were ongoing.

Any pointers appreciated folks.
cheers

Remove the green wire from the loom that goes into the cdi. Keep the green one plugged in from your stator this will isolate the ignition switch. You will have to stall the scoot to stop it if it starts.

You seem to have had an awful lot of connection issues with the wiring. You will waste hours of your time chasing faults until you re-make every connection in the headset, ensuring the contact is firm and reliable.

Replaced regulator with new ducati type, re-crimped CDI/Regulator, re-crimped all connections in headset/junction plate with new bullet connectors, loosend all wiring looms in headstock/frame of tie-wraps, bump started in ignition switch position 1 and away she goes.
Lights and horns working in positions 2 & 3, down to scooter club tonight, for a total of 5 miles trouble free scootering :)
cheers
for help so far. :fb:
