Hi.
I'm currently collecting up a selection of jets, needles etc for dellorto phbh carbs to give myself a useable range for different aplications.
So a few questions for you
1 Can you use X needles for both AS and AV needle jets?
2 If I have my facts right an AS jet is weaker than an AV.So would an AS 266 be inbetween an AV 266 and an AV 264?
All help greatly appreciated.

Theres a good explanation about atomisers here http://www.lambretta.co.uk/downloads/carbsetup.html
When i was young my Mom said "if you haven't got anything nice to say, say nothing at all " ..................... and people wonder why I'm quiet around them !

Yes you can use x needles with both as and av atomisers but i would suggest using richer needles like an x2 or x13 with the as atomisers.
Most scoots use the av atomisers. To say an as266 is in between an av264 and av266 is not strictly correct as they work in different ways. The as atomiser is longer than the av which leans the mix out (especially at lower throttle openings) as it takes longer for the fuel to be delivered than if you are using an av atomiser.
The av atomiser gives more fuel under acceleration as it delivers fuel quicker. The as atomiser puts more emphasis on the slide you are using as well.
I personally prefer sticking to the av atomisers. Whenever i try the as atomisers they seem to lean 1/4 throttle to 1/2 throttle too much.
Hope this helps.
Peter.
