Disc Brakes? which one???

I would like a disc brake for my ser 1 Lambretta that I'm going to be putting a TS1 225 kit in later this year, I'd like something better the Scootrs, and have been looking at alot of the different places that sell them. Mind you there are really only probably 5 or 6 types it seems! But I want to get my moneys worth and want it to work properly. I have been trying to decide about the Scooter Republic disc kit as I like the look it has, and have been looking at PM tuning. I'm not fully sure the advantage of anti dive to not, I have drum links on the scooter but I also have in my collection some good italian disc links, so I can go either way. I'm going to be buying some of the new AF aluminum tubeless rims, so want everything to fit right. Basically throw at me your opinions of different kits, What has worked for you, what happened to your buddy etc.! Please help me out.
Thanks
Robi

Was going to say buy British.
However your in Canada so it comes down to economics.

I have one made by Lambretta Innovation/PM I bought it complete with forks from Frank
and I'm very happy with them.

The TSR ones look nice and many run the Scootrs and are happy with them.
So its shipping and TAX get a quote or see what they have at Lambretta works, jet200 or scooter originali
in the USA

Check out threads about Af rims before you buy, I run the Frank Sanderson antidive tubeless grimace hub and it absolutely brilliant.

ScootRs tried & tested plus looks as original as any outboard hydraulic disc brake could look also the ScootRs tubeless rims are the best fit

I spent hours on this and other forums trying to decide which disc brake to buy, far too many people complained about Scootrs in general so I decided to give that company a wide berth.

In the end it came down to the company that seemed to have the best reputation in general and the least complaints about the brake - PM Tuning.

I ended up buying the PM Tuning single disc hydraulic brake from Jet200 in the US, I'm in Australia & the shipment turned up within a week of buying it online, highly recommend the brake & Jet200.

I too use Jet200 and can highly recommend them. I'm thinking that's probably what I'll end up ordering. He's out of stock at the moment though, and moving shop! I'm going to need a good master cylinder also. I just ordered the SIP rims and after reading the 15 page long thread here and the odd one elsewhere it seems they are the best bet.
The Scootrs dilemma is more then I want to deal with! I have some parts from them and have luckily never had an issue with any. That said it's never been any real wearable parts, nothing to do with wheels or brakes. The disc kit I have from them is garbage! It's off center by a half an inch! Yes it would probably function as it should but I'm not risking my or my better halfs life. What really irks me about Scootrs is that everytime an issue arises Randell comes out on the attack and never accepts any kind of critcism. I'll leave it at that.

Something that noboby has mentioned is anti dive.
What do people prefer, and why?

Also will that same PM disc fit with the alloy tubeless rims? I see PM has a tubeless version available also.

BTW thanks everyone.

The PM double disc fits fine on the SIP tubeless rim, so I imagine that the single disc should too, I'm sure the disc and caliper are the same.
Because the outboard discs work so much better than inboard or drum brakes that when grabbed on the front end nose dives, hence the need for anti dive. The PM disc and caliper were developed for 10 inch wheels so are less 'grabby' than the nissin type that are made for much bigger wheels.

Are you sure the problem is not your forks, or more likely your fork links? Is it definitely a ScootRS front disc and not another Vietnamese make?

I'm not here to defend Randall especially but I've run 2 scootRS outboard hydraulic front discs for many thousands of miles and they both fitted centrally. Initially one was problematic but it turned out to be a wharped disc link and nothing to do with the ScootRS kit.

The af tubeless rims wont go straight on a single disc anti dive, the valve hits the caliper as the disc is on the other side (nearside). They can be reassembled and with the center spinner reversed so the caliper is on the offside ( normal ) side, but the the speedo drive then has to go on the nearside, and it then spins the wrong way so the speedo wont work.
I know this as i spent an afternoon doing it a couple of weeks ago, only to change it back when i discovered about the speedo drive :( :(
The single disc anti dive is an excellent bit of kit though :D and the speedo drive which is a vega type is also very good, with a steady needle on my cheap indian speedo, and its quite accurate :D
I use an AJP master cylinder of a speedfight (£10 ebay).
I also have a sterling disc which was off center by about 12mm ( 1/2 inch) this made cornering "interesting" So i took it apart and got it machined down to get it centered, and now its good but not as good as the PM /Frank Sanderson one imo :D

With the risk of another 15 pages of rants  .............. all the scootRS ones ive seen all appear to be off center
