Scooter Track Day

The BSSO is looking into organising a track / test / demo day to help promote scooter racing and give road riders the chance to experience a race circuit.

We are looking at using Teesside Autodrome as it is cost effective for an introduction! Unfortunately the circuit has let their ACU approval lapse ( too many hoops to jump through) so we can't use it for a full race meeting, however the circuit owners are very keen to do some sort of track / Test day for scooters with our involvement to promote scooter racing.

We would expect all riders to get at least 6 sessions on track, and also get the chance to see full race scooters on circuit. Leathers would be required ( insurance specification )

There is a circuit map here >> Image

An onboard video here to give you an idea... http://youtu.be/QUClIWX0fD4

We are looking into a Track Day / Promotional event..... run race scooters practice, interspersed with road riders track sessions. perhaps a demo 'race' .... we could have an area for dealers or traders too.

Costs would be around £90 a day

I'd like to get some idea of numbers so please could you add to vote so we can evaluate interest. If you are definitely interested please PM and I will ensure that you are kept up to date

Event would be held on a weekday

Please tell anyone you know who may be interested.

I have visited this circuit with a view to putting on a track day a couple of years ago. Of course, I hadn't the bottle to see it through and I am very remote from the Teeside track to do the organising, but I thought the track had huge potential. Put TS6 6XH into google maps for another view of the circuit.

I also thought that it would be good to have a "tuner's parts fair" at the same time, so that those shops that don't usually show their wears at the parts fairs might come along with all their goodies to put their shop windows in our faces. Well, maybe not at the first track day, but perhaps in the future.

Yes, I would come, and I would hope that this would spawn similar track days elsewhere in the country.

I would expect it's cheaper therefore making the price more realistic.

Fair point, but maybe a weekend day/s with a small entry fee for spectators would be as viable? I'm sure Paul has been doing his sums though :)

The circuit weekend rates could be £10,000 ...... Weekday we can keep price per rider down to £90-95 for the whole day, in line with bike track days which could have 100 + riders........

Hopefully we can put something together with sufficient notice for folks to book a day off (or sickie) lol.
