Thanks to those who replied before, I've now stripped it down and it looks worse than was expected... With just the head off I couldn't see this gouge running south of one of the exhaust transfers, what's the verdict now?
/edit
It was a circlip btw...

If I remember right Tino used to offer a relatively cheap repair service for his cylinders that have suffered damage if you are willing to post to Italy. Might be best to ask Cam Lam first.

Yes, he did/does, he quoted me a few years ago for my mugello and his price fore repair, re-nicasil and supply a new piston including return postage was only about £30 more than Camlam wanted for a new piston

The only problem is being prepared to wait as he does them in batches apparently. Worth an email though.

Thanks for reminding me of Tino's service, I did contact him myself a couple of years but totally forgot about it... doh
He was quoting 150 euros inc shipping and piston then and it was being done by GILA MOTORSPORT, I'll look into it again, thanks again.

Yes, but last time I got a quote from them they were the same price as Tino was offering but without a piston ! Tino has replied and given me the details of who to contact now and I'm waiting for a reply from them to see exactly what the deal is with them now. Thanks.
