got a ts1 225 std barrel with transfers matched and maybe slightly widened exhaust port but not raised.

barrel has been lowered 1.5mm with 2mm head gasket - 60mm crank (i think this brought the transfers from early 30s down to 128?)

what would be the effect of putting a packer on the base and putting a std 0.5mm head gasket on so reversing the shortened barrel?

was wondering if it would increase high end bhp but loose low end power - dont know about effects on torque

I'd think that's exactly what it would do, more BHP further up the the rev range and less torque. It sounds like your motor has been tuned for touring and you proposals would move it back towards the standard. I'm no expert though, just been reading a lot lately

thats what i thought but theres not much torque so if i go back to std settings + the 60mm stroke i dont think i will loose torque.
dont know if i will gain bhp or just move the existing bhp up the rev range

dont know what effect the 60mm crank has on port timings/performance on a stdish ts1

6400 rpm on the flat with 20/47 gearing = 70mph (felt like 60)

It won't do any harm to try it Mick.
It will give you more transfer timing than you need but you won't notice like you would say too much exhaust timing.
