miceck info

Have been running a Mikeck on and off for a few years. It is stamped Mikeck-1-89.Has a dodgy looking BSAU 19 T2 stamp on it as well. Were the Carlisle racing team still putting pipes out around that time or could mine be a knock off? I have owned it since 95-95-97? Mememory slip
Not to worried either way, lovely pipe, feels like it's kicking in 3-4g's and then just keeps pulling and pulling and puling and pullling and pulling.
Anyone got any other info to go with this pipe?
Much appreciated

Sorry can't answer your question really, I think the mans name who carried on with them after is Eric Jacks. Not. 100% on that, but whoever it is has been selling new Vespa pipes on eBay recently.
But I hoped you could answer my question: Do you know what MK?/model yours is and what engine do you run it on? I have one an had it dechromed recently...now the stamping is a lot clearer I can see it reads Mikeck MK 6 88 - looks same as a DJ pipe. Also do you have runner boards on with this pipe, did you have to trim much off them?
Had wanted to run mine on an iron 190 with LI 150 16 / 47 but was worried it either wouldn't pull it or it would just scream and run out of steam too quick.
The noise they make is unmistakeable, a unique tone...yours a bit like that?
Last thing; when you say it keeps pulling - is that a power band you've hit or does it have a decent amount of torque?

Thanks muchly

i bought a Gp200 about 4 years age from an old mate, it was the last scoot my brother had built/sprayed in 1985 , it came with a TS1 200 kit fitted with a Mikec , it is stamped Mark 5/8 , dont know what that stands for,any one shed any light.? any way i had it blasted an powder coated and put it away for a rainy day.
fitted it earlier this year to my cutdown Ts1 , on tick over it sounds like a tiger growling, bit loud, then i realised i hadent repacked it when i stored it away. Brilliant pipe, second only to my DJ webster from the eartly 80`s,

Well, I am thinking it is a MK 1, 1989 as that is what appears to be stamped on it. Looks like a DJ pipe(incorperated end can) and it has a distinctive note to it, even when packed :) I did have to trim a curly hairs worth of metal off of the floor runner.
I have run it on a 215ish wiseco rapido set up with a 22m, standard SX gearing and sprockets and at I'd say at 3.4 - 4 g's it kicks in(power band) but I do not or cannot feeling when it lets off, it just seems to keep pulling(left a gt? 250 vespa behind after the rev limiter kicked in on one run). It did, however, manage to twist a welded crank  although I must admit after looking at the weld, the welder should have been shot. Also, just twisted a standard GP crank on a very midly tuned 200, so it's got something good going on in there.
Prolly should do a dyno session, but that would be far too much of a sensible thing to do :ninja:

My Mikeck is stamped: MK3R Mikeck 8/85 which I have always assumed was a Mark 3 from 1985, so it's unlikely a MK1 would be stamped 1989?

Running mine on a new sil gp200, with a 28 delly, not quite run in yet but it does feel good. The only problem I have is keeping it on... It's fine for 10 miles or 100, then decides it doesn't want to be on the scoot anymore.....

(it's on my cutdown so can't comment on the floorboard clearance)

(it's probably also worth mentioning that it has the same stamps in two sections)

Here is my ex-race Mikeck from about 1985. I found it at the old Kettering parts fair in the late 1990's for £20.

The end can is a scooterRS item I found on ebay for £10. In have mounted it properly and hasn't cracked since (that was the kiss of death, wasn't it?)

 . Bet that thing sucks out some gases and shoves them back in there well Knowledge. Slighty larger than standard carb on that motor?

Skar, I ended up using vespa top shock rubber mounts to hold it down tight. Have to run a S2 stand to clear it.

Mawso, I did have to trim a cruly hair off the runner, didn't measure how much at the time. When I get it near a dyno, I'll give you the rundown on torque and what not. Might be a while though.
