stand catching 42mm AF Clubman

Hi,

I carefully fitted a new AF 42mm big bore exhaust (supplied by AF) to my Serveta 82 Ser.80 Jet200 this morning only to find after hours carefully of lining casing studs up etc. that my stand won't go up into it's normal position due to it catching on the outside seam part of the slincer unit. I obviously don't wish to get the bast*rd file out on it nor try to impulsively bend the original stand. Any similar problems experienced or any handy tips would be helpful. Shame as it looks a nice exhaust...if there is such a thing!!

I've had exactly the same in the past.
If you're sure you've pushed the exhaust all the way home on the u-bend?
The answer is to carefully hammer several shades of sh*t out of the exhaust box seam to flatten it. Alternatively, carefully bend down the seam with pliers.

Yeh if in doubt use the hammer hey!! mm...I'll give that option a miss for now. Didn't expect to need to give it a whack being a new item!!

I had the same with an Ancillotti, so bent the stand slightly to clear it.

Everything I buy needs fettling to fit. I bought a AF clubman where the downpipe was abought 5mm out of line

Sounds really stupid, but to bend the stand, did it need to be removed and heated?

No worries with the funnies just thought it may fit like the Cambridge standard flat ended clubman one that I fitted to my DL which was a superb fit, no issues. I must admit I didn't expext to have to cut, file, bend and maybe repaint it but hey thats the challenge I guess. It's probably more annoying as just when I thought I'd finally finished (if thats ever possible!!) the build I notice it...d'oh!!!

I put it in the vice, and slipped a bit of scaffold pole over the leg, didn't heat it
maybe set up a scissor jack between the stand legs ? but I guess you couldn't be sure the right side would bend..
