Jarv, the last two engine builds I've done I've used the Italian ones that Cam Lam sell. They are more expensive that the SIL ones but they're much better quality.
I had problems with a GP SIL one that was machined incorrectly where the pin goes (it had a SIL hologram sticker on it but whether this means it was SIL?). I'd even used the CamLam LI type as opposed to a SIL GP one now.

thanks Paul, I do like camlam and am happy to pay for a decent one.
the one that snapped was the original 1965 item, so it hadn't done too badly.
and good to see you got yours sorted
