I am just about to give up with this.

I have fitted a 26mm Dellorto to my 125 / 175 Rayspeed engine. Carb jetted by M.B.D. & Ram Filter fitted. Bike starts fine, will sit ticking over for an hour no problem, but she is smoky and spitting black crap out of the tail can. I drained the gear box oil with the bike running and the revs didn't change at all as the oil drained out. The bike is revving fine, and setting down again no problem. I have started the bike again and let it sit ticking over with no gear box oil in it and it is still smoky and spitting out black oil. The spark plug is pure black. I have tried 3 different heat ratings of spark plugs, and lowered the idle jet.

Any ideas ?

How long has it been in tick over after you took the gear box oil out?

i think it´s the driveside seal and it´s still sputting out black oil and smoking because there´s left much of it in the barrel and the exhaust.

It has been sitting for an hour with no gear box oil in it. i drained out just under a half litre of gear box oil.

I did ride it for about 4 or 5 miles before i changed the pilot jet & it was still the same. It was running well beyond 1/4 throttle hence changing the idle jet.

It will only be gear oil if it absolutely stinks, sounds to me like you are running it on to high a % of 2 stroke oil. I would run it on a b8es plug at 3% oil mix and STD 95 octane fuel and the plug will start to colour properly after riding.
