Retouching Pearl scratches

Have several deep scratches in a side panel painted in white pearl. Don't know the exact colour of it, but have got a decent match in 2 pack with a 2 pack silver base as well.

Have tried a test area building up from P38, primer and then a couple of brush coats of silver base left to air dry then the same with white pearl.

Colour looks very flat though and from some angles very silver and others a near good match...depends on the light. Can I add more coats of white pearl to get a more uniform colour?

The flatness of the colour will be sorted out with a brush on clearcoat?

Hope somebody can confirm or suggest alternative method.

Thanks.

its very difficult to colour match pearl paints especially if you dont know yhe paint codes as a small variation of pearl in the paint can make a massive differance even when sprayed on

Thanks Stafford, but have no way of getting colour info though, painted before previous owner bought it.

Clear coat will obviously improve the flatness of the colour though will it not?

What would be your tips from start to finish pls? Scratches are approx 2 -3cmm long and fairly deep about 2 of them - dead centre of panel too!

Thanks Stu

personnal opinion would be repaint whole panel especially, if scratches have broken through to the primer, yes clearcoat will lift the flatness but will high light the imperfections have, you got any picture of said scratches

It's had a touch up of sorts already...maybe that's best it'll look and I'll have to get used to it. Can't stretch to a respray now...potless for a good while until tax bill is paid. Not knowing colour would probably result in one panel not matching rest of bike, it has decals and graphics on too so will have to stick with it this year.

Had no flash on Iphone camera so couldn't get a decent image, will try again tomorrow. A second opinion is useful anyway!

Cheers Stu
