Morning all,
I'm building an Imola engine, I have the choice of an early Pacemaker gearbox or a Li150 one to fit.
Your thoughts please ;)

Early Pacemaker as in weak 3rd gear?

I like the Pacemaker box but with an uprated engine I'd stick with the LI150 box (it is Italian I suppose?)

Hi,
It's a late 63 box, I guess it will be the weaker one, the Li box has an Innocenti stamped cluster though the gears have no stamp on them, they have a J engraved on one tooth of each cog, so I'm asuming they're Indian/spanish.

I thought about leaving the pacemaker box in as it's original to the engine at the time, but now I've got this Imola kit i'd like to get the parts that are suited to it.

Cheers :)

the "J" may well in fact be an "I", which indicates the gearbox is genuine Innocenti. The Christmas trees were always, to the best of my knowledge, stamped with the Innocenti logo, although the actual gears were a bit hit and miss- some had the "I" and some had nothing.

Personally I'd go for the LI150 box

Nice one,
I think I will go with the Li150 box, i've just had a look and it is the letter j hand eched into each cog......

Thanks for that :)

The ratios of the Pacemaker gearbox with std 15 x 46 is very well suited to the Imola. I've no idea which version of pacemaker was in mine but 5.4 final drive suits it down to the ground. Go taller at your peril. The exhaust will play a big part in deciding which boxto use too. But it's a kit that lurves to rev so give it a revvy exhaust and short gearing.

Hey up Chris,
Your right, the "J" is infact an Innocenti parts, I've just stripped an old clutch crown wheel, one of those with the springs in and a part of it had the "J" etched into like the gearbox..... ;)

nice one!

If you look at a disc actuating arm cover on a TV175S3 or TV200 etc, there is an "i" pressed into it, but it looks like a "J" as well
