Daz here from the lambretta club of south australia , i have just road tested my 240 motor, here is the spec, rapido classic cylinder ported by myself, timings are EX 185,TRAN 127,INLET165, jl3, variatronic,[weight ring removed] 34mm vm mikuni, modified monza 225 head,60mm mec crank with 115 yam rod,71mm wiesco 440 jet ski piston, this is my 4th go in 25 years at building a 240 motor , the others all used cast iron cylinders, tv 200, gp 200 and indian 200, i have had mixed results, italian cylinders always wore out very fast, and indian cylinders took days to port [ verry hard], all of them suffered from overheating in the australian summer, after the last 3 i swore to myself i would never do it again , but the sickness runs deep and i found myself collecting the parts for another, i think the fact the rapido cylinder is verry thick around the cylinder studds , seems to be about 5mm thicker than cast, this should be a big help for cooler running, the motor is in my series 1 and after a short test ride has proved to be much faster than a friends ts1 [ v force reeds ,ported cylinder,jl4], i have allways run self tuned piston ported motors and never had any interest in reed motors, so when it is run in and set up i will post the dyno results if anybody is interested.
