Trying to get my Imola up and running and looking for the best carb suited to the job.
Been trying to set it up with a PWK 30 but it`s a bitch to start from cold. Tried everything and run out of patience.
Will be using a JL3.
Thinking maybe PHBH 30MM?? Very common, loads of jetting advice and works.

I have a Mikuni TM 28 on mine and after a few teething problems ( my fault ) it's been as good as gold.

My Mikuni TMX27 set up is on the carbs set up page. Worked great from day one until the day I blew it up 5000 + miles later.

Cheers folks, food for thought.

I found an old thread from the LCGB site where the choke jet was drilled out to .75mm to improve starting on a PWK, anyone else tried this?
The problem with the PWK is the lack of a removable choke jet, it`ll start with a hand over the carb from cold but not on it`s own.

I have the same setup, Imola, BGM PWK, only I have the JL3 curly. Exactly the same cold start problem. It always fires first kick but it takes four or fives kick to finally tick over, on each kick the engine runs a little longer before dying. Then it needs to warm up on tick over otherwise any throttle will kill it. I improved this by setting the tick over very low (I think the tick over screw just pushes the carb slider up and down) so a similar effect to blocking the carb mouth with your hand.

I haven't tried drilling it. Could you post a link to the thread? Also planning to switch to the Del'Orto at some point.

Sounds exactly the same as mine, kick..splutter die...kick splutter splutter die and so on. I`ve a lightened flywheel so it`s hard to get a low idle :?

It`s off the old LCGB site, I contacted Storkfoot but his mate did it for him so he couldn`t offer any more help :(

Cheers for that. It runs well enough with the PWK to get me around for a while. But I think I'll switch to Del'Orto next winter.
