If any of you are using the new AF tubeless rims, what tyres are you using and were they fitted with levers or a machine. I just took my rims and a pair of Continental conti twist race tyres to my local motorcycle repair shop and he tried to fit one, first on his machine and couldn't, then with levers and couldn't because the tyre was too tight on the rim. I spoke to Rayspeed and they say they are fitting both Michelin S1s and Sava S83s with a machine, but they did say it was specially for 10" wheels. Any help gratefully received.

i would send your wheels to rayspeed and get them to fit the tyres,
i took mine to a local bike place and they made a c***t of it :flaming:

Got Conti twist 100/90-10 on a set of new rims.Apparantly they wre kin tight but there on.

I bloody hope Swalbes fit!

if possible warm them up first

I fitted S1 by hand warmed in hot water first

Taking mine to National tyres in the week to get done. They have a machine that will go down to 8" rims. I'm going to use a schwalbe Raceman. They only charge a fiver.

Just tried the local National tyre dealers and their machine only goes down to 12". said he tried a 10" on it once and ripped the tyre.

How warm do you have to get the tyre? I've got a bowl that will take a tyre, do I just fill it with boiling water and leave the tyre to soak?

thats what i do so its just to hot to touch not boiling when the tyre goes in it cools anyway so the water can be touched i turn it every few mins soap it up as well makes a difference

After a lot of phoning around I found somewhere happy to fit my tyres. I spoke to the fitter first and now know why the place I went to yesterday could not get the tyres on using their machine.
If you look at the inside of the rim you will see there is a deeper indentation directly over the inner part of the rim that bolts to the hub. This is specifically for the tyre to sit in when it is being fitted. This means that the tyre must go on from the valve side. The place I took my tyres and rims to yesterday were trying to fit them with the valve facing down and therefore didn't have the deep well for it to sit in. Hope this is of some use to the rest of you.
