how to buff up!

No I don't want dieting tips :freak: putting the Lamby back together,semi rusteration ,meaning its took me long enough(loot or the lack of) to do the engine - the spray job can wait till next year now.BUT I do want to polish a few pieces like the headset,rear light and horncasing to give the old girl a bit of bling,sort of chrome on the cheap.Anybody got some advice of the best and ideally cheapest way to achieve this.I've a dremmel with the polishing bits and a big jar of elbow grease but not sure of the best way to proceed,just wondered if any body has a few top tips?

Your dremel is only of any use for small intricat bits, for parts as large as the headset or rear light housing you'll need some bigger mops and polishing soap sticks to fir to an electric drill. Maplin do a kit of 3 mops and soaps for about £10. The first step would be to get the surface really smooth using very fine wet & dry then use the mops and soaps as per the instructions. I clamp my drill in a work mate, wear gloves and goggles and old cloths 'cause tou will get filthy

look out for something called a "lovblock" basically like a big eraser(pencil rubber) with various grades of grit in it ...then Finnish with auto-sol

Personally find Autosol too abrasive and prefer Meguires from Halfords. Fives a far better shine, almost chrome like and leaves a protective coating
