I'm restoring an Li150 Special - this was my scooter from way back which I'm afraid to say I abandoned at my parents in the mid-eighties. It's therefore suffered 25 years of inclement British weather. Time to right a wrong!

I had changed the original seat to an Ancilotti style -- it just disintegrated over the years.

There is much to do. I've had to get some legshields obviously, supposedly Italian (how do you tell?) and I need to get a correct mudguard - the one in the picture is OK, but its an LI. Also need some rear running boards.

Dismantling was a real pain due to rusted fasteners. The engine was also a bit of a challenge -- the cylinder was removed with the aid of an angle grinder and chisel. The flywheel thread was stripped, which created some problems and the mag housing was not moving without a mighty clump on the crankshaft - it moved an inch and then twisted and stuck solid. Great fun.

I like the front mudguard. I had a TV175 that came like that and I'm tempted to keep it that way.

Keep the pictures coming. I'm going to be following this with interest. ;)

Keep up the good work Devlam. I love these complete strip and re-builds.

And now -- frame back after having a little attention.

Apart from a new crossmember (which needed doing back in the day) its just been blasted & etch primed. It needs a bit of attention here and there -- a bit of pitting on the top frame surface but nothing too major.

Engine casing and mag housing went off to have some work done at the weekend -- needs some thread repairs and then off for some aqua blasting.

After much consideration I think I've settled on re-building with an Imola kit -- in the mean time I'm trying to strip and clean up the other body parts. At the moment its my intention to have a go at spraying myself with celly. I need to get a spray gun and compressor first though.
