First job, is the choke working correctly (trail and error) try pulling the choke cable manually and kicking off..

My 225 with a 30 PHBH needs the choke on and throttle completely closed when I kick it over, usually fires first kick. As mentioned, check that the choke piston is lifting, there should be very little play in the cable. My choke jet is a 70 and the pilot is a 55, I think that is fairly standard ?

Cols right 70 choke is fairly std but I've seen 50 and 60. Changing it may help.
Simple first check though is to see if the plunger is lifting all the way. Putting your hand over the bellmouth does show the choke either isn't fully opening or is too small.

You could re-fit the flip choke and see if it starts, then you,d know its only a choke adjustment problem.
