Does anyone have experience with the SIP Road exhaust in a Malossi 221?

I'd go for a JL-type exhaust for a Malossi kitted engine.

I know, but I could not afford the noise.
Thanks

Different engine I know, but I used a S.I.P T5 Pro exhaust on my Polini 208. It's more expensive than the S.I.P road, but it does retain standard looks and although it has throatier tone than a standard exhaust, it's probably alot quieter than an expansion pipe like a JL. It also increased torque and bhp over the standard exhaust quite considerably..( mind you it should do at the price it was.) I think sip say on their advert that it allows an engine to rev on more which might suit you more with your Malossi.

ive got one on the way too, i love the standard pipe for plodding around and the jl for fun mucking about but hate the racket
so hoping the sip road fills the gap, standard pipe that revs out would do me fine

i got my pipe the other day, i had heard that they sounded a bit tinny so i sprayed it with a whole can of bbq paint which makes the metal sound more wooden when tapped rather than tinny. i think it worked (same trick i have done with clubmans) as the sound is quite throaty with a thud thud thud rather than a ring ding ding.
im running a polini 208 bolted on with no other mods. ive used a 124 main jet, 125 would not let it rev out.
im very happy with it which is unlike me, the polini/sip road feels like a modernization of the p200 motor which is what i was after......standard isf feel but less s**t.
i made a comparison today between the simonini/standard and sip road.
standard is nice but doesnt rev out, simonini sounds racey gives the best power but ruins the vespaness of the motor and the sip road pulls 4th from 20 mph through to 65 effortlessly. not sure about flat out as ive not had the oppertunity.
a racer it is not but nice long grunty smooth gears for fast road riding it is.

I totally agree with you.
My set up is much more powerful than yours (221 Malossi, RD Reeds, Keihin 35, etc..) but the SIP Road allows the engine breathe well, even though I'm sure it would be much more fun with a real reso-exhaust.

i think you hit the nail on the head, you/we need to decide how you want to ride. ive got a powerful mbd ts1 and a gixa but sometimes i want to put my rose tinted glasses on and plod around as piaggio/innocenti intended.
in italy this year, shorts t shirt and open face lid...... i was up and and down coastal mountain roads but not realy going over 50mph.
the polini / sip road is how they should come as standard from the factory.
