I've got nothing to compare, so could someone tell me if this piston is sticking out too far? To me it looks like it's sticking out too much, but the kickstart shaft is new as far as I can tell.

Rob, I think you'll find that it's the ramp that controls how far out the piston sticks. You do have the Kick Start Piston Circlip on, don't you?

But if you have a GP ramp built into the GP endplate, you'll have to turn the kickstart shaft a bit to line up the reference pin with the ramp?? That should hold the piston in a bit ;)

Suppose it's the only option left. Cheers.

Where did I see the article on prep and fixing on?

Who does the ramps?

Doesn't matter. I'll have to get another kickstart shaft

I don't know if this helps,I did one on the LCGB site about 8-9 months ago and I think it was also done recently in classic scootering. This is the way I did mine so that I kept the GP endplate which was matched to the engine casing.Take the endplate off and using a dremmel trim the ramp off so that it looks like an LI,SX etc endplate before Image
after Image

drill and tap the blanks on the sidecasing assuming its a GP sidecasing and fit a ramp,I think you can them most places got mine from SR ,(think they're out of stock at the moment) http://www.scooterrestorations.com/lamb ... and-bolts/

All works, takes the strain of the kickstart off the endplate and you can adjust the kickstart "biting" point better plus you've got the stronger GP kickstart shaft.Hope this helps.Dave
