Time to upgrade my clutch in the ts1 - which 5/6 plate clutch should I be looking at?

my taffy tuned ts1 uses a chiselspeed 6 plate with packer and its great but needs a packer making for pipe(pm) and floorboard strut reshaping to allow rear runner to sit a further 10mm away from engine.
my imola & rapido both run a reedspeed six plate which is great needing no mods
my dac is running a reedspeed 6 plate which slips quite badly but that is at 39bhp/26torque (approx) so im fitting one of rocho68's clutches which are cheaper than all other competition and capable (in theory ) of handling upto 50bhp.http://scooterotica.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=14329

I've fitted surflex 5 plate kits from Andy Francis into a few bikes, including my own revvy mugello and a TS1. Seem to work fine. And, with thinner steels, will fit comfortably in a standard basket.

Ive got a couple of JB Tunings 5 Plates in mine nice clutch and easy on the hand

I've got a Readspeed 6 plate in my TS1 it was also in all 3 of my RB225's never had any problems with it and it's approx 3 years old.

No packer plate or extended kickstart shaft required

If you aren't a racerboy a 5 plate clutch can and does work fine. I have machined my crown wheels to suit in 2 different setups and installed the AF 5 plate package and it seems just fine. The spring are a little more mellow than the Barnetts which makes stop and go riding a little easier. Truthfully, the 4 plate with Barnetts held up pretty well for 5,000 miles. I can understand high HP bikes needing a 6 plate but it does all seem like a race to spend stupid amounts of money sometimes.

It depends a lot on your gearbox. A GP gearbox puts much less strain on the clutch than an SX gearbox.
