Drilling offset cones....

The offset cones i use keep moving when i put the bolt through and i want to drill the frame, tap it and out and put a grub screw through. Dont want to loctitie it as it would need to be done each time i deropped the engine.

questions i have are:

I have 5mm grubs are these okay?

Whats the min length of Grub screw i need (cant get at the frame to measure depth at mo)?

How close to the outside of the edge can i go when drilling the frame and should the entry point be directly underneath or at an angle?

Is it advisable to try and drill the grub screw hole in the cone whilst its in the frame or best to get the drill tip to go through the frame touuch the cone then take it out a and drill it a bit in a vice?

I think thats it, some obvious questions but didnt want to end up drilling more holes than i need.... :D

I just drilled the frame at the only angle that I could get the drill in easily. I did it with the cones in place to make sure the holes lined up. Once there was a good mark on the cone, I took it out, stuck it in a vice and made the hole about 5mm deep. Tap the holes, a blob of threadlock, screw it all together, rinse, repeat and you're good to go.

Stupid question time......... :?: :?
I take it the use of offset cones is too increase the distance between large carb inlet manifold and frame? So what way are the cones fitted? hole towards the top, or hole towards the bottom?
Again sorry for my stupidity :?
