Parts advice - Are these panels Italian or Viet?

I just received my SX 150 from NZ, when I bought it the guy in NZ claimed the whole bike was 100% Italian, it had matching frame & engine numbers so I assumed the guy was telling the truth.

Silly me? I dont really know to be honest!

The panels look the part, but I had someone look at them and claimed they were Vietnamese.

Also, he noticed that the fork were Series 1 & not Series 3

Plus the front mud guard was off a GP.

Last but not least, has a funky looking Electrics system.

So, here are a stack of pictures, can anyone tell me the following:

1. Are Vietnamese or not
2. What is the mudguard is (looks like an SX one to me)
3. Are the forks S1 or S3
4. What is this electric system?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Electrics
Im not overly concerned about the electrics as I will be replacing these on the SX with a Variatronic, but I will need these for another project, my LI150.

The forks look like S2 to me. This previous post will be helpful, but you'd need to remove forks

Can't tell from the pics, but early S2 will have the boots seam welded and no groove through the threads at the top of the stem for the tongue on the locking washer. later S2 forks will have spot welded boots, one side of the boot overlapping the other, and there will be a groove through the threads at the top of the stem for the tongue on locking washer.

Sorry, can't help with other questions - I only know the info above due to the helpful folk on this forum who helped with my own fork query. No doubt one will be along to advise.

Mudguard is definatly not GP, cant say about the sidepanels, forks look series 3 to me as they have the bolt in buffers and it has been fitted with an electronic kit, no big deal but dont know about the choc bar connector.

Perhaps someone else can comment on it as well.

what are the engine and frame numbers? Do they match each other? (a definate no-no!!) What is the IGM number? (to the right of the frame number).

The electronic set up looks very Vietnamese in my opinion.

The front mudguard looks OK as does the sidepanels

Is there a battery fitted?

The front brake arm is not standard and looks like a VC bodge.

P.S.

those forks aren't original to the scooter either. There appears to be a wire cable holder welded to the top of the off side boot. These were made for S1 S2 and very early S3 scooter forks, but were dropped around 1963 for a retaining clip which was bolted to the link bolt on that side.

very hard to tell from the pics of panels but seams and welds seem fine and don't appear to be made by hand ,may be a different story when stripped ,front guard is not gp but forks are late s1 /s2

Don't see how this figures. Bolt in buffers certainly don't equate to S3.

Viets don't use roller type panel handles, they use the hook type, though they could have been retro fitted. You'd need to strip them to know if they were hand beaten or not, though the Viets press them nowadays. Front mudguard is SX / LIS which is correct. Steelbird regulator points to an AF Indian 12v kit though it looks like they've done a few home made additions too it. Groove for the fork holding clamp bolt in the headset should be on the left side, on earlier forks it was on the back. I can't make out from the pics but earlier forks would also have a hole in them under where the speedo cable comes out at the bottom so you could bolt on the inner front mudguard.

Forks look like early S3 to me. But they've been painted over with the bolts in place. The fact that the panels are not crimped very tightly on the bottom edge may be significant. I don't recall seeing Italian ones like that. If they are new they've been distressed. Get rid of the electrics for sure.

Viet panels will be twice as heavy as Italian ones due to the filler used.
