just wondering, all my engines have had breather plugs fitted to the top of the engine but noticed my broth`s only got a blank plug fitted like the drain plug, he`s been everywhere on is scoot and not one bit of trouble,so should we or shouldn`t we ,wots its purpose ?

thanks for that ,but is it their so the oil can breathe as to not create pressure in side the engine

i,ve always supposed that a breather is needed..............even though your bros is ok so far.............i would use one just to be on the safe side..............
if a breather was not needed............then why did all previous models have them...........?
i have seen a few indian motors supplied blanked off as you say..........but dont think thats a good thing....................

Totally agree...If any pressure builds up in the casing, the oil in the case can only be pressurised, I can confirm this as Ihad a back wheel oil seal blow when I put a blank in my GP instead of a breather...

Increase in temperature = increase in pressure, only way out is through a seal.
