Heavy on Fuel

Hi Everyone, I have a 1980 P200e which drinks fuel like it's going out of fashion and with today's prices I need a bit of help to why she uses so much.
There is no fuel leak at all, new seals were fitted to engine on recent rebuild and I have also drained the oil expecting it to be nice and thin with loads of petrol in it but oil was fine nice and thick and not smelling of fuel as expected. The engine runs fine ticks over nicely but very slow at picking up speed when in fourth, all other gears are fine, good acceleration.
I filled her up yesterday 6 litres and went out for a ride today around 45 miles round trip and am now down to about 1 litre left in the tank, does anyone have any ideas as why she's so thirsty.
Thanks

is there much compression , rings could be done , or your barrel has a lot of wear an may need a rebore and an over size piston , just my thoughts on it
